Better than Good Enough June 24, 2010

Sometimes reality will shatter into a million little pieces. Just to allow you to see clearly and rebuild a new reality.
My journey, these past couple of months has been a little bumpy with a few dead ends and detours but I think I’ve gotten back on track. Life is funny that way. No matter how much you “think” you’ve got a grip on things or have a “plan”, you can never avoid the surprises (good and bad). The best thing you can do is stay focused. Stay focused on your goals, dreams, and vision. There are so many distractions and diversions. You absolutely cannot let anything knock you off track. And you must remain positive and confident in your vision.

I am incredibly blessed with amazing individuals who inspire me and humble me on a daily basis. I cannot even begin to think of where I would be without them. Even those that aren’t in my life today. They have all played a key role in who I am and where I am.

I bought a CD yesterday. Its been a loooong time since I’ve bought a cd from the store. Nowadays, with everyone downloading music and iPods, who really buys cds anymore. But I do make it a point to support my favorite artists because I truly appreciate their craft and talent. So … I bought Drake’s new CD, Thank me Later. Before yesterday, I have enjoyed his music but I have been very indifferent about Drake himself. No opinions whatsoever. But once I listened to the first track, I was very pleased with my purchase. The entire album is good. I cannot remember the last time that I really enjoyed a CD this much! Its been a while, maybe the Alicia Keys album a couple years ago. I can’t stop listening to it. In the car, on the phone, in the shower. I don’t know what it is about this album, but it touches a cord with me. Then, last night I saw his hour long documentary “Better than Good Enough” and  officially became a fan. I was truly touched by some of the things he shared, his work ethic, and his perspective on life. For a twenty three year old, he definitely has a few things figured out ;)

Bottom line is that this dose of Drake was perfect timing to refuel and “light up” my fire again. I’m so charged and refocused. Its refreshing to get that these days. And I’m truly thankful for the timing of it all. But then again, life is pretty wise.

My mantra:
Everyone comes into your life for a reason, season, or lifetime.

Divine timing. Always perfection.

Every year on my birthday I write goals. Personal, professional, spiritual, etc.
This year, I wrote my bucket list of the thirty things I want to do before I turn 30. Sometimes, things don’t go as we planned but there’s always a second chance to do it bigger and better. The lesson is to never give up. I’ve always dreamed big and I hope that my friends and family will share these experiences with me.
